What Are the API Ratings for Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40?
Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40 versus Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40. Is the ESP formula at least CI4-Plus approved? I can't find any API rating specs on this oil, only Mercedes specs. The reason I ask is, I am a Mercedes-Benz technician at an authorized dealer. We sometimes service other diesel vehicles, including my own 2003' Ford Powerstroke 6.0 diesel. I can get the ESP formula for a very good price through my employee discount. So, I want to know if this oil will work ok not just my truck, but for other vehicles too that require CI4, CI4+, or CJ4 oils? Thank you for your time, Sincerely Harry Johnson

Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40 is a high quality engine oil but it has only been tested against the stringent MB 229.51 specification. Although it is likely to perform well in other applications, it has only been proven in Mercedes-Benz applications. For your Ford Powerstroke, we recommend that you follow the manufacturer's recommendations and use a product like Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 which is specifically designed for the operating conditions of a heavy duty domestic diesel engine.
