Question:
Are 0W Oils Thick Enough for Use in Hot Weather
I have a 2003 Ford sport trac with a 4.0 V6 engine.  From the first oil change at 3,000 miles I have always used Mobil 1 5W-30. I see you now have a new green top cover 0W-30 (Mobil 1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy) that is fuel economy but I worry if the film (0W) is thick enough for a 96,000-mile engine in the Florida heat?
-- Ricky Gomez, Orlando, FL
Answer:
Mobil 1 0W-30 Advanced Fuel Economy is engineered to offer the same high temperature/high shear viscosity performance as 5W-30 and 10W-30, so it is a good fit for the Florida heat.  You can use it with confidence.  Same goes for Mobil 1 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy and 5W-20.
