Question:
Need for Concern Over Oil Temperature in a Corvette?
I own a 2001 Corvette Coupe. I wonder about the oil temperature. The Corvette doesn't have an oil cooler so temperatures run over 200°. How concerned should I be about oil temperature?

Answer:
If you used Mobil 1 5W-30 which is factory filled for Corvettes vehicles and meets GM 4718M specifications, your engine is getting appropriate protection against temperature. The GM specification 4718M was created to make sure your vehicle has the right level of protection not found in typical conventional oils. By the way, one of the reasons that Mobil 1 was originally specified for Corvettes was because of its ability to protect against the higher oil temperatures typical in your vehicle and other high performance vehicles.
