Question:
What Can be Done to Stop Engine Knocking?
I have engine knock only on startup for the first minute or two; cold or hot weather. I am currently using Mobil 1™ 5W-20 in my 2009 Honda Pilot. Will switching to 0W-20 full synthetic quiet the knock? Also I have used Mobil 1 religiously since the first oil change. I currently have 125,000 miles, but the knock started at about 46,000 miles.

Answer:
Regarding the engine knock, moving to a slightly lower viscosity oil may not solve this issue. We suggest you consult with your mechanic to ensure there are no underlying mechanical issues.
