Question:
Is Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 a Good Choice for a BMW All-Wheel Drive Wagon?
I've got a 2005 BMW 325xi, and was wondering if your Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 would be suitable for both the transmission and the differential for the all-wheel drive? I was told to go with 75W-80 Redline, but I would think your Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 would be a good choice too. Any input on this? Thanks

Answer:
We recommend first consulting your owner’s manual for the appropriate viscosity grade and any other specifications required for oils being put in the driveline of your BMW. Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 is intended for gear applications where lubricants meeting API Service GL-5, and where multipurpose or mild extended performance gear lubricants are recommended.  Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 combines wax-free, synthesized hydrocarbon base oils and a specially designed extreme-pressure, limited-slip, sulfur-phosphorus additive system to provide a significantly higher level of performance in rear axles and differentials versus conventional fluids.
