Increased Oil Usage After Switching Oil
I own a 2000 Saturn SC-2 with 110,000 miles that I have changed to Mobil 1 5W-30. After 3000 miles I have burned 2 ½ quarts of oil. This seems distressing. Can you help?

Answer:
It is not unusual to use more oil after changing brands but 2½ quarts is excessive. We think you may have a mechanical issue or a leak that should be checked by a mechanic.
