Question:
Is Mobil 1 0W-40 Okay to Use in a Ford F-350?
Mobil 1 0W-40. I own a 2007 Ford F-350 4X4 with the Triton V-10 (gas engine). I'm aware that Ford recommends 5W-20. However, I honestly don't feel very comfortable working my truck with only 20 weight oil. I want the absolute best protection against engine wear; (beyond what a manufacturer recommends) therefore, I strongly prefer to use Mobil 1 0W-40. Any problem with my desire? Also will my fuel consumption drastically worsen (beyond its heavy thirst now?).

Answer:
Mobil 1 0W-40 should work fine for your engine but you will pay the price in a loss of fuel economy. This is why the 5W-20 is recommended.
