Is Mobil 1 Causing Problems in EVO Engines?
Hi, my name is Farshid and I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution 2.0 Turbo with 31,000 miles on it. I have only used Mobil 1 10W-30 in it, which is just what they recommend from Mitsubishi. Well, last night I was driving home on the freeway and doing about 75MPH. When I got home my car was on Turbo timer for one minute, and I started to hear this ticking noise so I shut the car off and let it cool down. Then I started the car again and the noise was there again so the next day I pulled the valve cover off and checked everything and nothing was wrong with it. So I called my friend who has been a mechanic all his life. He came over and said I have a rod knock on my car on the number 4 cylinder. And now I'm reading on EVO M and everyone is talking about how Mobil 1 has changed something in the oil that's not good for EVO's. Now you guys recommend 5W-40 diesel oil or 0W-40 oil. Can you please let me know or someone tell me what I need to do why my engine spun a bearing, and why Mobil 1 never said anything to any one about this?
