Do Older Unused Oil Filters Lose Function?
I found a Mobil 1™ M1-104 oil filter in my trunk that I must have forgotten about. It may be 2 or 3 years old and has been through upper Midwest winters and summers. The rubber ring still seems pliable. Is it still good to use?

It is fine to use a filter that is 2-3 years old, as long as the filter has not been exposed to water. Check the gasket for tiny cracks that are signs of dry rot. If the filter is dry and does not have any cracks, it is good to use.
