Is Synthetic Oil Thinner than 'Regular' Oil?

Question:
Is Synthetic Oil Thinner than 'Regular' Oil?
I recently purchased a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup with a 360 gasoline V-8 with 115,000 miles on it. I noticed it is "losing" oil, none under the truck when parked, but the oil level keeps dropping. I have not noticed any smoke behind the truck when driving it, and I don't smell it when driving, so the truck does not appear to be burning it. I would like to switch to Mobil 1 synthetic oil, but am not sure if this is "thinner" oil than regular oil. What would you recommend? I use only Mobil 1 in my 6-speed Corvette and have excellent luck with it.

Answer:
We would recommend switching to Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-40 or Mobil 1 15W-50. Both of these oils can help to reduce oil burn-off.
