Should a Stock Car Switch off 10W-30 Motor Oil?
I race a Ministock. It's a track-only 4 cylinder stock car. We run at a high banked 3/8 oval. It's a Ford Pinto engine sohc with flat tappet rocker arms, and .670 lift camshaft hitting near 9000 rpm. With Mobil 1 10W-30 the camshaft is suffering scuffing on the lobes. Would this be a good candidate for 0W-30 racing oil? Or would my oil psi drop too much?

It is a perfect candidate for Mobil 1 Racing 0W-30. Mobil 1 Racing 0W-30 has a very high level of phosphorus, which can help to provide camshaft protection. You may see a lower oil pressure but this is not unexpected. Also, since it is a track-only car you don’t have to worry about the higher phosphorus killing your catalyst or oxygen sensors
