Question:
Can Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel be Used in a Mercedes-Benz kompressor?
Can Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel be used in a 2003 Mercedes-Benz c230 kompressor? Will my car engine be hurt if one quart was put in to address the 1 quart low message? I know I have Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40 in my car currently. The salesman told me today that Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel 5W-40 can be used in my 2003 MB c230 kompressor. I was a quart low and I asked for 5W-40. When I saw the label, I inquired about the diesel, letting the salesman know that my car engine is not diesel and I showed him my car. Clearly pointing out it was a supercharged engine. He again assured me that I could use the 5W-40 turbo diesel oil and that the labeling had changed but the product was still good for my car as well. I purchased three quarts and put one in. Now I am concerned that perhaps the salesman lied and I need to address the error. Will this hurt my car or am I ok?

Answer:
Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 is a very high performance diesel oil and it is also API SM which means it can be used in gasoline vehicles as well. We would have no concerns using it in any of our gasoline vehicles. In the future, however, we recommend you follow the oil recommendation in your owner's manual regarding engine oil quality and viscosity grade.
