Question:
Can Synthetic Motor Oil be Used in a Hyundai Elantra?
I just bought a Hyundai Elantra touring and was told NOT to put synthetic oil in it due to it hurting the motor. I also was told to bring it in every 3,500 miles for an oil change. I thought all new cars use synthetic oil, and wondered if you heard of this or are they just wanting to do more oil changes?

Answer:
We recommend that you follow the oil and filter change frequencies shown in your owner's manual, especially under the warranty period. Not all new cars at this moment use synthetic oils but it definitely won't hurt your engine if you chose to do so. Synthetic motor oils provide superior low temperature pumping and flow, and superior high temperature stability and protection against deposits when compared to conventional motor oils.  These attributes translate into less engine wear and longer engine life.
