We just had a baby and I just changed jobs which makes my weekly commute further at 400 miles per week. Deciding to get a used vehicle with good mpg specs and ensuring its longevity are really important to us right now. The previous owner was a bit lacking in the preventive maintenance department. I looked at the color of all the fluids when I first changed them - they were really dark. I decided to go with Mobil 1 synthetics all the way. After the first oil change with Mobil 1 the oil was very dark as I suspected it would be. This to me indicates the Mobil 1 with its advanced detergent package is doing its job inside the engine. After the second oil change on Mobil 1 things are already looking cleaner inside the valve cover and the old oil is nowhere near as dark as before. Using Mobil 1 has cleaned out the engine residue caused by improper maintenance by the previous owner, and has resulted in slightly better mpg.
Thanks, Mobil 1 for designing a great product that actually does what it's advertised to do. This vehicle will get nothing but Mobil 1 from now on. I will probably make the switch to the high mileage blend when I cross the 100,000 mile mark soon.
