I bought this car new. I ordered it from the local dealer one year prior to the vehicle hitting the showroom. I bought it based on an Autoweek article. The car has an adjustable height air suspension, a 2.7L twin turbo and a 6-speed manual transmission. It is still considered one of the most practical PERFORMANCE wagons sold.
These cars (the S4, A6 and the allroads with the 2.7L twin turbo) were pretty notorious for eating turbos. I have kept Mobil 1 in the car since new, and the engine and turbos on this car are the original units. No noise, no failures and no blowing oil after 110,000 miles. I plan on keeping her another 110,000 miles and feed it a regular diet of Mobil 1. This picture is a view of the engine as I was replacing the cam drive belts at 102,000 miles. You have a clear shot of the engine with the front clip removed. Check out the turbo intercoolers. Of course, I changed all of the oils (engine, transmission and rear differential) with Mobil 1 products.
