This is a 1987 Mitsubishi Starion ESI-R. The very first day I saw this car in 1986 I knew I had to have one but I couldn't afford it at the time. I eventually saved enough to purchase one used and went on a year-long search for one that was well taken care of. I finally found one in perfect condition. I did add a few performance items over the years but most people can't tell it's modified until the boost kicks in.
I purchased the Starion and proudly drove it home. The following morning upon start-up I heard a screeching sound from the turbo which was also heard when the boost kicked in. I was so disappointed and convinced that I would need to change the turbo out. I decided to change all the fluids and filters in the car and would worry about the turbo later on. I used Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil, replacing the conventional oil. Upon start-up I realized the turbo screech had disappeared. I then took it for a quick test drive and the turbo kicked in nice and hard without any noise. I can say I was relieved! Since that day I am convinced that there is a difference in motor oils and Mobil 1 has been my choice now for 15 years now. I fill all my cars with Mobil 1 and have a positive story for each vehicle; I've never experienced any engine-related issues.
