This is my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 named "Stomper." I built this truck to resemble the classic customized 4x4 trucks of the 1970s. This is accomplished with a 6-inch suspension lift kit, 37x12.50 mud terrain tires wrapped around 17x8 polished "8 hole" wheels, and a double tube roll bar with four stainless steel off-road lights complete with retro smiley face covers. Reproduction '70s "Power Wagon" graphics were added to the front fenders and tailgate to complete my modern-retro truck. 4.56 gears were installed to compensate for the oversize tires.
When it came to deciding what brand of motor oil to use it was really a no-brainer. After all, I was aware of the fact that back in 1974, Mobil 1 became the world's first internationally available synthetic motor oil. Since this truck has a 1970s theme going on, what better choice of oil was there? The first thing I did after getting it home from the dealer was drain out the factory oil and pour in Mobil 1 5W-20. Two years and 18,500 miles later, the 5.7L Hemi engine runs as smooth as it did when it left the factory. Even with all the modifications the truck has, it still manages to get factory MPG numbers, sometimes even BETTER! I can't help but think that this is due to the super friction/wear-reducing properties of Mobil 1. I spent a lot of money on this truck so the least I can do is provide it with the BEST motor oil and that, my friends, is Mobil 1. Often imitated, never duplicated!
