When I first saw that Ford was actually bringing this truck to market I could not believe it and could only hope they would make it in a Supercrew. The Supercrew better fits my lifestyle and my family. It's as if I had designed it because I had moded my two previous trucks to essentially be a Raptor. Well I had a little setback in ordering a truck as my house was hit by a tornado in August 2010. The most important thing was everyone was okay; the downside is we were out of our house for over eight months and lost about 70% of our possessions. My Harley was declared totaled, my current truck was damaged, and my wife's car was extremely damaged.

Well, the Raptor is not an easy truck to come by and just as we were moving back into our home I stumbled onto a chance to get the exact truck I would have ordered. Not the most practical thing I have ever done, but I pulled the trigger on the purchase. For the record I had never sat in one, had never been closer than a 100 feet to a Supercrew version, but I knew this was my dream truck and IF I would have gotten any closer before buying I would have just drove myself nuts. As it turned out, it is far nicer than I could have imagined. This is a VERY significant investment for me and I will only trust it to Mobil 1.

I have trusted all my vehicles to Mobil 1 for over 15 years and I have never had one engine problem. This truck is new but after the first oil change I immediately noticed an impact on the transmission temperature. The transmission started running up to 20°F cooler. This truck is very advanced and has an oil cooler that is routed through a chamber in the radiator. As most people know, heat is the largest contributing factor to oil and engine breakdown.

Besides all the added benefits of Mobil 1, the impact on cold cranking and subsequent protection is unparalleled. I live in Minnesota where we can have winter temperatures that hit 20° below zero and colder each winter. In these conditions conventional oil has the viscosity of a jar of jelly and will starve your engine of proper lubrication at the most critical time frame that it needs it – when starting it. In a previous car my wife had, the factory shipped it with conventional oil. It was a small 4 cylinder and when started in these sub-zero temperatures it sounded like there was a gremlin under the hood pounding on the block with a hammer.  We switched it to Mobil 1 and it started and sounded like it was the middle of summer.

I also ran Mobil 1 in my v-twin Harley; this is an air-cooled motor and when you are sitting in fender-to-fender traffic in Sturgis in a 100°F+ weather, it does not take long for the temperature of the oil to go well over 200°F and get above the temperature limit of conventional oil. For these reasons and more I will only trust my rides to Mobil 1.
