I bought this car brand new when I was 13 years old with the help of my Dad! It sat in our garage until I was old enough to drive. I put about 20,000 miles on it using conventional oil and then switched to Mobil 1 exclusively. It has had nothing but Mobil 1 oil in it for well over 34 years. It is the 429 Cobra Jet engine with 375 horsepower.
The engine always performed well, and gave me 335,000 miles of trouble-free and dependable performance. When I restored the car in the mid-1990s, I rebuilt the engine even though it didn't exhibit any reason to do so. When I disassembled the motor, I was shocked and amazed at how clean and new looking it was inside! It didn't really need a rebuild! Anyway, I now run Mobil 1 High Mileage (for the extra ZDDP levels) and it runs as good, if not better than ever!
