This is my 1988 BMW M3. It has been in my family about 3 years now, but I just recently purchased it from my father. The e30 M3, built from '88 to '91, was produced to be in compliance with the rules of the DTM race series. All cars entered had to have a 2.3 liter four-cylinder engine, and could vary little from their production version. The body of the race car had to be identical to the production car as well. My M3 still wears its original Alpine White paint, and has only had a few modifications over the years, including: Schrick cams, Evo hood seals, and BMW rear headrests.
I choose Mobil 1 15W-50 (the weight recommended by BMW) for the M3. Actually, my father did it for me. Mobil 1 keeps the high revving, race-bred engine running smoothly. Even over 7000 RPM. I also like the extra wear protection Mobil 1 offers because I like to drive this car as often as possible. I want to keep this car running well for years to come! Who knows, maybe one of my kids will manage to talk me into selling this car to them one day.
