Our 2002 Toyota Sequoia 4x4 is our family car. It is versatile enough to haul
the kids and groceries around town, and strong enough to carry the family on
camping trips to the mountains. My wife drives it on short trips around town
and on long trips to visit relatives. It will be the only car we will buy for
at least the next four years, so we need it to last.
These Toyota V8 Sequoias are known for bad gas mileage. I switched all the
differential fluids and the transfer case fluid over to Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear
Lube LS 75W-90. I also began using Mobil 1 5W-30 in this engine exclusively.
The gas mileage increased, engine noise decreased and I am very happy. I
change the oil every 5,000 miles even though I know it could last longer. The
oil with 5,000 miles is almost the same color as when I put it in the engine.
Mobil 1 is the best synthetic motor oil available. Why should I trust our
family car to anything else?
