| | On September 27, 1997 at 10,000 miles, I switched to Mobil 1 10W-30 fully synthetic. I have changed the oil every 5,000 miles and always with Mobil 1. Almost 200,000 miles and 10 years later, the car still runs fantastic. The only internal engine part ever replaced is the water pump/thermostat. The rest of the engine is original, as are the exhaust system and catalytic converters. Today, the car is a daily driver; it burns one quart of oil between changes, routinely averages 25-26 MPG, has never had an oil leak, has never failed an emission test and has NEVER been towed.
The engine looks immaculate when I look down the fill port with a light. There is no evidence of sludge or varnish of ANY kind. In short, how much wear can an engine have that delivers such great mileage over such a long haul? Mobil 1 has made a huge difference.
