Question:
Alternative to Exxon Superflo
I've been using Exxon Superflo 5W-30 and 15W-40 but they no longer seem to be available. A local distributor told me that Mobil Delvac was the same as Superflo, but I find nothing about Mobil Delvac on your website. How do I go about getting more Exxon Superflo? If it's made under the Mobil brand now, which oil is it? If there is no equivalent, which Mobil oil is slightly better for engine wear protection than Superflo?
-- Ned Coleman, Jr., East Bend, NC
Answer:
Exxon Superflo 5W-30 has been discontinued. An excellent replacement choice would be Mobil Special or our premium oil, Mobil Super 5W-30.  If you are looking for a replacement for the Exxon diesel engine oil called Exxon XD-3 15W-40, we recommend using Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W-40 if the requirement is API CJ-4. If API CI-4 PLUS oil has to be used, then the substitute will be Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40.
